Reaching Chocolate Lake, you’ll be captivated by its unique cocoa-hued waters, a perfect backdrop for photography and learning about its local significance.
Post the lake visit, enjoy a delectable lunch amidst this picturesque setting. Next, gear up for a 2-hour ascent to Paso Palomani, the highest point of our trek at 5,200 meters. Here, the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks are truly a reward for the senses.

Day 2: Ausangate Cocha to Anantapata – A Canvas of Colors
Awaken to a warm cup of coca tea or coffee, followed by a hearty breakfast. The second day’s adventure leads us on a four-hour hike to the Apacheta pass. As you ascend, the majestic Ausangate Mountain and its vibrant lakes unfold before you. At the summit, pause to capture these stunning vistas with your camera and immerse yourself in the Andean air.
Our descent takes us towards the Anantapata camp, where the ever-changing landscape showcases the region’s diverse beauty. The evening at Anantapata is graced with a picturesque sunset, a perfect setting to observe the local wildlife, including alpacas, llamas, and sheep.
As night approaches, we gather for a communal dinner, preparing for the early start tomorrow. The excitement mounts for the upcoming visit to Vinicunca, the iconic Rainbow Mountain.

The first leg of today’s hike takes you uphill to the Warmisaya Pass, standing at 4,980 meters. Here, as the sun rises, you’re treated to a breathtaking sunrise over the Andes, painting the sky in hues of gold and pink.
The journey from the pass involves a 40-minute descent to the serene Surini Lagoon. From here, we embark on a steady climb, lasting about an hour, to reach the summit of Vinicunca, the illustrious Rainbow Mountain. As one of the early arrivals, you’ll have the privilege of experiencing this natural wonder in a tranquil, uncrowded setting. Our guide will be there to explain the mountain’s unique geological formations and its cultural significance.
For those who wish to extend their hike, an additional hour-long trek leads to the Red Valley. This area presents a stunning contrast to Rainbow Mountain, with its striking red-colored mountains, offering a unique and unforgettable visual experience.
The journey culminates with a two-hour descent to Alqatari, where a celebratory lunch awaits. It’s a time to share stories and reflect on the incredible experiences of the past three days.
