Your journey begins with the quiet hum of Cusco awakening. At the early hour of 2:30 am, we embark on a scenic 3-hour drive, a prelude to the grandeur of the Andes that awaits. Upon arrival at the trailhead, a freshly prepared breakfast by our dedicated cook sets the tone for the day’s expedition.
As dawn breaks around 6:00 am, the path to Vinicunca beckons. This 2-hour trek is an exploration of nature’s artistry, unveiling the stunning spectrum of the Rainbow Mountain. Here, atop this vibrant landscape, you’ll have ample time to immerse in the beauty, capture memories, and reflect on the natural wonders surrounding you.
The descent from Vinicunca marks the continuation of your adventure. Awaiting at the base is not merely a meal but a culinary celebration, with a buffet lunch that showcases the flavors of the region. The afternoon transitions to the serene Pomacanchi Lagoon, where we set up camp by the water. The evening offers a chance to explore the lagoon, followed by a dinner under the stars, filled with stories and the tranquility of nature.

Day 2: Ancient Mysteries of Waqrapukara and Return to Cusco
The second day greets you with the calm of Pomacanchi Lagoon at dawn. Following a hearty breakfast, we embark on the trek to the ancient citadel of Waqrapukara. The journey, beginning from Punta Carretera, is a mesmerizing blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue. During the first 2 hours, the trail offers glimpses of high Andean lakes and expansive landscapes.
As you descend to Waqrapukara, the scenery takes a breathtaking turn. This ancient ceremonial center, nestled amidst colossal rock formations, provides views that blend the realms of earth and sky. Exploring Waqrapukara is a walk through history, with its stone structures echoing the past’s stories.
The descent continues to unveil wonders, with ancient rock paintings marking the 2-hour path to Huayqui. As the day comes to a close, we return to Pomacanchi Lagoon for a delightful lunch prepared by our cook. The journey back to Cusco, starting around 6:00 pm, brings you back to modern comforts, enriched with stories and memories of a unique and spiritual adventure.
