Day 1: Cultural Exploration from Cusco to the Heart of the Sacred Valley
Our adventure commences in the historic city of Cusco, from where we journey through the enchanting Sacred Valley in a private van. Our first destination is Chinchero, a village pulsating with history, archaeological sites, and a famed handicrafts market. Here, we delve into the past, exploring the grand palace of Emperor Tupac Yupanqui and the bustling Main Square.
We then embark on the serene Chinchero-Urquillos hike. This gentle downhill trek, covering about 8 km, weaves through ancient pathways, offering mesmerizing views of the sacred mountains, Sahuasiray and Pitusiray. A major highlight is the Poc Poc waterfall, a majestic 50-meter cascade offering a refreshing and picturesque stop.
Our hike culminates in Urquillos, a charming village surrounded by verdant farming fields. Next, we head to Ollantaytambo, an ancient Inca village filled with myths and archaeological wonders, serving as the gateway to Machu Picchu. The journey to Aguas Calientes by train is a transition from the rugged beauty of the Sacred Valley to the lush fringes of the Peruvian rainforest. The day ends in Aguas Calientes, preparing us for the Machu Picchu exploration.

Day 2: The Majestic Machu Picchu Experience

After immersing ourselves in the wonders of Machu Picchu, we descend to Aguas Calientes. The return journey includes a train ride to Ollantaytambo, followed by a drive back to Cusco. This concludes our unforgettable 2-day journey, a perfect amalgamation of cultural immersion and scenic beauty, ideal for experiencing Andean wonders in a short span.
