Huaraz – Llanganuco Valley – Cebollapampa – Laguna 69 – Huaraz
Begin your day before dawn breaks, embarking on an extraordinary adventure from Huaraz at 5:00 am. The early morning’s tranquility sets a serene backdrop for the journey ahead, as you venture into the heart of the Andes.
The first stop on this northern trek is the historic town of Yungay at around 7:00 am. Here, you’ll have a chance to experience the local culture firsthand, with an option to indulge in a traditional Andean breakfast (at your own expense). This is not just a meal but an opportunity to connect with the local way of life. After breakfast, we’ll provide you with a specially prepared boxed lunch to carry with you, ensuring you’re well-fed during your hike.
As we proceed towards the Cordillera Blanca around 9:00 a.m., the journey becomes even more enchanting. Entering the famed Huascarán National Park via the Quebrada de Llanganuco, you’re greeted by the breathtaking beauty of Chinancocha and Orconcocha lakes. These twin lakes, with their crystal-clear turquoise waters, create a mesmerizing contrast against the rugged mountain backdrop, offering a perfect moment for capturing memories.
Our hike commences at Cebollapampa, marking the start of an 8 km trek through diverse and enchanting landscapes. Each step on this trail brings you closer to the stunning Laguna 69. Nestled at a lofty 4620 meters, this alpine lagoon is a spectacle of natural beauty. The vibrant blue waters, set against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks and framed by cascading waterfalls, are a sight to behold.
Reaching Laguna 69 is a moment of triumph and awe. Here, you’ll have about 30 minutes to immerse yourself in the beauty of this high-altitude paradise. Whether you’re enjoying your boxed lunch surrounded by panoramic vistas, capturing the breathtaking scenery, or simply basking in the peaceful ambiance, this interlude promises to be a highlight of your journey.
As 2:00 pm nears, we begin our descent, hearts and minds enriched by the day’s extraordinary experiences. The trek back to Cebollapampa is a time for reflection and appreciation of the Andean majesty.
