Cusco – Pisac – Kinsa Cocha – Cusco
Your Andean adventure begins with a warm pickup from your hotel in Cusco. We embark on a scenic drive through the heart of the Sacred Valley, where the majestic Andes rise to impressive heights above 5,000 meters. This journey, approximately two hours, is punctuated with stops to capture the awe-inspiring scenery of the valley.
Upon arriving at Azul Cocha, you’re greeted by the lagoon’s tranquil blue waters, the starting point of our hike. Here, the tranquility of the Andes immediately envelops you. We set off on a gentle one-hour hike to Pumacocha, a journey graced by the presence of the region’s charming alpacas. These friendly and curious creatures often accompany hikers, adding a delightful touch to our trek.
After savoring the company of alpacas and the beauty of Pumacocha, we ascend to a mountain pass. This 30-minute hike offers panoramic views of the Andean landscape. Descending from the pass, we journey another 30 minutes to reach Kinsa Cocha, the largest of the lakes. Its expansive and peaceful waters provide a perfect backdrop for a relaxing box lunch.
For those who wish to add a historical dimension to their nature hike, we offer an optional detour on our way back to Cusco: a visit to the Pisac archaeological site. This ancient Incan marvel, perched on a mountainside, provides a glimpse into the rich cultural history of the region.
We aim to return to Cusco around 6 pm, bringing to a close a day filled with the tranquil beauty of the Kinsa Cocha Lakes, the delightful company of alpacas, and the majestic landscapes of the Peruvian Andes.
