Cusco – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake – Cusco
Begin your adventure with an early morning pickup from your Cusco hotel, setting off on a journey designed to avoid the crowds and offer an intimate experience with nature. Our drive southward to Mollepata takes about two hours, during which you can enjoy the changing landscapes as dawn breaks over the Andes. In Mollepata, a local eatery provides a hearty breakfast, perfect for fueling the day’s expedition.
Following breakfast, we continue on a rugged road to Soraypampa, the starting point of our trek. Here, at the edge of the Peruvian highlands, the enchanting Humantay Lake awaits. Choose your path to the lake: a peaceful 1.5-hour hike or a swift 30-minute horseback ride. Our early start ensures a tranquil journey, allowing you to fully immerse in the beauty of the Andes without the usual crowds.
The trek, though moderately challenging, rewards you with a breathtaking sight. As you crest the final hill, the pristine turquoise waters of Humantay Lake reveal themselves, set dramatically against the backdrop of the Humantay glacier. With fewer visitors, you have the unique opportunity to enjoy the tranquility and take in the stunning views uninterrupted. Our guide will be on hand to point out the best photo spots, ensuring you capture memories of this alpine wonder.
After spending quality time by the lake, absorbing its serene beauty, we begin our descent back to Soraypampa. The journey is not just about the destination; as we drive back to Mollepata for lunch, the route offers sweeping views of the valleys and mountains, adding to the day’s visual feast.
A sumptuous lunch in Mollepata provides a chance to reflect on the morning’s adventure and share experiences with fellow travelers. The return journey to Cusco is equally scenic, offering a relaxing end to an unforgettable day. By approximately 3:00 pm, we’ll have you back at your hotel’s main gate, filled with memories of a trek that showcased some of Peru’s most stunning natural landscapes.
