The trek begins with a hike to the mesmerizing Perolniyoc Waterfall, a hidden gem in the heart of the Andes. This 100-meter cascade is not just a sight to behold but also a symbol of the region’s natural splendor. After a moment of awe at the waterfall, we ascend to Raqaypata, an off-the-beaten-path Incan site. Here, amid the ruins of ancient structures and ceremonial platforms, you’ll feel the whisper of history as your guide unveils the stories and significance of this lesser-known Incan marvel.
As the day winds down, we’ll enjoy a deliciously prepared lunch, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the Andean landscape. The evening is a time for relaxation and camaraderie, highlighted by a warm cup of tea and a hearty dinner, as we camp under the starlit sky, eagerly anticipating the adventures that lie ahead.

Day 2: Perolniyoc to Choquetacarpu via Inti Punku
Wake up to the serene Andean morning and a hot cup of coca tea, followed by a nourishing breakfast that prepares you for the day’s trek. Our target today is the Pukaqasa pass, a climb that rewards us with sweeping vistas of the lush valley and distant, snow-capped peaks.
The journey to the summit is a breathtaking experience, revealing the agricultural heart of the Sacred Valley, with its vibrant patchwork of fields. At the peak, take a moment to breathe in the panoramic views of the Ollantaytambo valley, an unforgettable sight. Post-lunch, we’ll reach Inti Punku, the Sun Gate. This historical site offers a unique perspective on Incan military strategy and architecture, along with stunning views of the valley below.
The day concludes with a descent to our campsite at Choquetacarpu, where you can unwind with a warm cup of tea, enjoying the splendid sunset and preparing for the next day’s descent into the valley.

Day 3: Choquetacarpu to Aguas Calientes via Ollantaytambo
The day starts with a descent to the intriguing Cachicata Inca Quarry. Explore the quarry’s remnants and learn about its historical significance from your knowledgeable guide.
Our path then leads us downhill, offering occasional glimpses of Ollantaytambo’s iconic features, including the pyramid and ancient Chullpas. Lunch in Ollantaytambo is a chance to experience the vibrancy of this living Incan town and explore its archaeological sites.
In the evening, a train journey to Aguas Calientes awaits. This ride offers a chance to relax and enjoy the changing scenery as we approach the town closest to Machu Picchu. Here, a comfortable hotel provides the perfect setting for a restful night before the final day’s exploration of the legendary Machu Picchu.
